cooperators insurance company cooperators auto insurance cooperators life insurance cooperators travel insurance links blog null company address: 1920 college avenue regina, saskatchewan s4p 1 c4 phone:(306) 347 – 6200 fax: (306) 347 – 6806 cooperators insurance company cooperators insurance - familythe co-operative life insurance was incorporated by a group of hard-working canadian farmers in province of saskatchevan on march 12, 1945. having received the dominion incorporation on july 26, 1946, the co-op life started the placing of insurance in alberta, manitoba, ontario and saskatchevan with 91 representatives. soon, it was emerged also plans for starting of a co-operative fire and casualty company in the minds of co-op life as early as 1947. after several years of investigations and discussions, co-op assumed in 1950 the strategy to build a national casualty company. it was incorporated as co-operative fire and casualty company (cf&c) with the same board members as for co-op life. cf&c was able to provide instant service in 8 provinces since june, 1952. both companies have a success by the end of the 1950s. it had brought about more challenges concerning the issue of control. in respect with it the idea emerged considering closer relationships with ontario companies. this development led after some restructuring to the creation of new joint company on july 8, 1963, the co-operative insurance services (cis). the growth in 1950s stimulated the need of new facilities what brought about the new building completed in july 1964 in regina, on the 1920 college avenue. cis encountered many challenges in the 1960s and the early 1970s related with the enacting by provinces of british columbia and manitoba of the government insurance what resulted in the considerable losses to the company. but cis was able to find the way out this problem through introducing group coverage policies and other life productions. in 1963, cis and cia (co-operators insurance association (guelph)) concluded an agreement over co-operative insurance in ontario. it eliminated the tendency toward competition with each other, and by the early 1970s, the two companies were working closely together. by 1974, a joint committee considered the possibilities of co-ordination between cis and ciag what resulted in the creation by august 1975 of a new holding company to hold both of them. it was from this that a new national company was created named as the co-operators group ltd. its prime mission was to maintain and develop user controlled institutions operating on the co-operative principles with the aim to provide insurance, finance and other services. actually, the co-operators group was not really in any business, but was carrying out a management and service organization assisting the group’s companies in their management allowing them the advice, tools, and mechanisms to succeed. copyright © 2007 cooperators-insurance.net |
